Home Run Series

The Home Run Series represents nearly a year of collaborative effort with Seattle's city government to display art on an urban signal box. The signal box art program is meant to engage the community by showing local artists on every day infrastructure, making the streets more vibrant.

I submitted the permit application in August 2023 and received approval in January 2024.

The installation combines physical and digital elements. Beneath the vinyl artwork sits an embedded NFC chip linking to a blockchain token on Base chain. The token is owned by the box itself. Anyone can come by and temporarily steal the NFT, but the next person who goes to the box can take it again.

The design draws from the Seattle Mariners baseball team, incorporating their signature colors: blue, teal, white, and red accents. The box's location near an upcoming transit station was a deliberate choice to reach commuters.

The goal is to bridge physical art, digital art, and NFT education in an accessible community context — an interactive "King of the Hill" style experience.
